Senior Quantity Surveyor

NRI Civils are currently recruiting for a Senior QS to join our vibrant and hardworking team on a permanent basis.
NRI Civils was formed in 2012 and is based out of our head office in Great Oakley, Northants. We are involved in the construction of major Civil Engineering & Groundworks projects in the housing and commercial sector ranging from £250k – £15 million, with an annual turnover of circa £20 million.  Our main objective is to form a ‘Partnership’ with our clients and suppliers, to continue to provide a personal and professional service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is looking to further develop their career in an ambitious environment, and who has gained valuable experience within the construction sector already. With at least 5-10 years’ experience in ground works/civil engineering there is plenty of potential progression to match the company’s strong growth targets.

Responsibilities / Duties:
• Mentoring less experienced members of staff within the department
• Procurement of subcontractors and certification of their payments
• Preparing and agreeing main contract variations
• Managing multiple contracts, applications for payment and all supporting paper work
• Liaising with contracts managers, site engineers and foreman
• Travel to various site locations to attend meetings
• Site Measurement
• Cost analysis when required and valued engineering on current contracts
• General account meetings with the client to agree payment and final accounts
• Drawing Take-off’s, preparation of estimates to secure new work
• Tender negotiations with the client and attending pre-start meetings

We are ideally looking for someone with the following skills & qualifications:
• Passionate about construction and strong communication skills.
• Developing less experienced members of staff within the team.
• Organising your own work load and others workload.
• Wide knowledge of Construction Industry processes and procedures.
• Have a high level of diplomacy with the client when required.
• Understanding of methods of measurement, standard forms of contract and reporting procedures.
• Experienced in Estimating and running live contracts through to completion.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Qualified in Quantity Surveying with a degree/HND or equivalent experience as noted above.

Candidate Attributes:
• Full UK driver’s License
• CSCS Card
• Polite and professional manner
• Hard working
• Previous QS experience within ground works/civil engineering essential
• Experience with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and general computer literacy
• Organised and able to work within tight time restraints
• Multi-tasking and prioritising tasks, whilst ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Good communication skills both verbally and in writing

Working Hours:
• Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm
• Lunch hour 12.30pm to 1.30pm

Salary:
• Competitive dependent on experience

Secretary to Directors/Receptionist

NRI Civils is growing and such are currently recruiting for a secretary/receptionist to join our vibrant hardworking team on a permanent basis.  This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who has gained valuable office/secretarial experience who is looking for the next step in their career to work with 3 forward thinking, motivated directors.

About NRI:
NRI Civils was formed in 2012 and is involved in the construction of major Civil Engineering works (Roads and Sewers) and private Groundworks (Foundations, Concrete Floors etc.) for national house builders such as Persimmon Homes, Bellway Homes, Morris Homes, Ashe Construction and Orbit Homes with an annual turnover of circa £20 million.  Our management team is based in our Head Office (Oakley Hay, Northants) and we are split into four departments: – Construction / Commercial / Buying / Accounts. Responsibilities / Duties:
You will be responsible for providing prompt and efficient support to the Group Directors and liaising with the Finance and HR Manager whilst providing excellent customer service as the first point of contact to the company.
As Secretary your duties will include:
• Diary and Meeting Management for the Directors, including preparation of agendas, minutes and ensure any action plan points are followed up
• Preparation of documents for meetings
• Keeping the directors aware of any urgent, relevant issues, emails, correspondence when out of the office or in the meetings
• Booking appropriate travel and accommodation
• Filtering all incoming mail, and telephone calls
• Completing expenses
• Dealing with confidential documentation
• Managing meeting room calendars
• Company event organisation
• Meet and greet visitors
• To produce, manage and store confidential documentation as required
• HR/Finance Admin support as required
• Liaise with directors to complete tasks as required.
• Handle all internal and external post.
• Experience of working within a construction environment is desirable but not essential
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent personal presentation and communication skills
• Excellent level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows Explorer
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
• You should have a proactive and flexible approach
• Able to use initiative and be creative in problem solving
• Liaising with our social media agency to update information as necessary

Working Hours:
• Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm
• Lunch hour 12.30pm to 1.30pm

Salary:
• Up to £22,000 according to experience

Reporting To:
• The MD, Commercial Director and Contracts Director
