I bought this tape because am trying to manage my horses’ weight this spring and summer as I have alot rich of pasture. Those of you that have horse weight problems know it can easily get away from you even if they live with you as mine do. The tape has height measurements on one side up to 20 hands and weights on the other up to 1398 pounds. I do not know if the weights are accurate but measuring regularly will definitely tell you if their weight is going up or down. This time of the year my main riding horse can get laminitis and way fat being on too much grass. I have vowed not to let that happen to her again. This tape is helping. Measuring her just once a week told me that even 6 hours a day on grass is too much. I used the tape to measure her girth at the smallest point the first day I got it. A week later I measured her at the same girth point and discovered she had gained over 30 pounds. YIKES! That’s the wrong direction. So, short of having a horse sized scale, this tape works great. I am happy it have a simple, quick way to positively tell if her weight is maintaining, going up or going down.
